String girths

I've just impulse-bought a string girth to go on Ellie's dressage saddle...I was going to buy a Thorowgood one, as her leather one is rubbing her behind her shoulder, but they only had Wintecs and, aside from being more expensive, I thought they looked awfully bulky

So I ended up with a Stubben string girth, which is lovely and soft and doesnt look like it would be capable of rubbing anywhere! I've never had one before, so what are everyone's opinions of them? If bad then I can take it straight back.....

Thanks for that, Kerilli, I shall make a mental note, as all my horsey stuff tends to get bunged in together!

I have to say it feels lovely and soft; I compared it to one of the cottage craft cotton/nylon ones, and there really was no comparison!

I have one (got it to help stop my saddle slipping) and it is lovely and soft. Alongside not washing it with velcro, I suggest tieing the buckles together as mine got awfully tangled in the washer and untangling it was a bit like doing a cat's cradle!!

i have one love it but the only problem i find is my saddle slips bk much more than normal when i use it so alwaysuse a brestplate with it but no prolems with rubbing.

I recommend Stubben string girths when asked for girth recommendations ... and agree with the washing suggestions!
