i know this has done before but i cant find it so sorry.
the string test....how do you do it?
at what age is it done?
how reliable is it?
and
tips for predicting the the height a traditional cob wiil make who is 9 or ten months old now.

Take a string (rope) and place one end on the fetlock and extend it to the elbow- then take the fetlock end and extent it upwards and this was to be the heigth of your horse.

well,he`s supposed to make the same or little+ as my mare so i`m going out to inspect hocks now.

my cob mare is 14`3`` with shoes
his hocks are about 2`` shorter(didn`t want to stand still!) so by that he should make 14`1``.
not done the string test yet.
thats a nice pic you have there but i`m glad its spring

A rough guide is to measure the length of the cannomn bone (which doesn't increase in length at all) then go round comparing it with lots of other horses!
