string test(expected height)

i know this has done before but i cant find it so sorry.
the string test....how do you do it?
at what age is it done?
how reliable is it?
and
tips for predicting the the height a traditional cob wiil make who is 9 or ten months old now.

Oooh when you find out lt me know! Ive got a yearling cob x NF, I think he's about 13.1 - 13.2 atm!

Take a string (rope) and place one end on the fetlock and extend it to the elbow- then take the fetlock end and extent it upwards and this was to be the heigth of your horse.

I know the height of their hocks never changes, and Bertie's are the same as Bear's!

Heres Bertie (the colt) stood next to Bear my Cob, in November, its the only pic I could find with there legs next to each other!

here`s the little man...

my cob mare is 14`3`` with shoes
his hocks are about 2`` shorter(didn`t want to stand still!) so by that he should make 14`1``.
not done the string test yet.

A rough guide is to measure the length of the cannomn bone (which doesn't increase in length at all) then go round comparing it with lots of other horses!

Bless him, I love coloured cobs! That was the 1st time Bear and Bertie met! They are both so soppy!
