At the moment we have got fat boy at the top of field which is shaped like a triangle, he has grazed it down well but as he is a good doer we don't want to move him onto other parts of field. So we are going to strip graze him.

How often do you move your electric fencing to give them fresh grazing? And by how much do you move it?

Also come spring time we are thinking of putting him on a track system, the field is approx four acres in total and if I understand it correctly he could have a track round the outside and the old girl could have all the area in the middle?

We've strip grazed for the past 15 years or so and the fields and horses have never looked better - usually we move the fence morning and night but only a couple of metres - depends how wide the section is that they're on. We find its better to try and rotate the areas that they're on so it gives the grass chance to recover and no neddies are traipsing over grass that could be growing again. Hope that helps a bit!!
