I'm taking my mare on a fun ride this Saturday and I have a feeling she could be quite strong!

At the last fun ride we had a group bomb up behind us and spook her so she bolted!

She is ridden in a sweet iron snaffle, flash noseband and running martingale for everything and isn't too strong normally.

Does anyone have any advice of what to do?

I was thinking of changing her noseband to a grackle. She doesn't like poll pressure - when I first had her she was in a hanging cheek snaffle and she was really strong in that at times. I've tried her in a french link and she leans/takes hold so they are a no go either.

She's 16 and is a chunky welsh cob

Get a thinner mouthpiece one or invest in a sam marsh pelham for occasions if it's a regular thing :)

I prefer grackles to flashes anyway if one must be used, though a drop is best if they open their mouth. Difficult to advise without knowing what she does to need a flash & running martingale without adding in a fun ride. But on the whole I prefer something with 2 reins so I can ride on the snaffle & just use the other if needed.

She's always been in a running martingale and flash since I've had her, she was in a hanging cheek snaffle at first to but I had no breaks.

On normal hacks she's not bothered - everyone can canter off and she'll just plod along.
