My boy is perfect in every way, however there are times when he will 'go where he wants' . He is 80% of the time easy to lead but then if he gets his eye on something he will quite easily haul you off towards it. I've dealt with a range of horses before and he is a big strong boy.

He is fine in enclosed areas and we've done join up successfully, it just seems to be in an open area we have problems. I've tried him in a
dually before which he just pulled
against. Ive thought about the kemp controller but the last I heard they were off the Market for a while?

Any ideas? I'd rather not resort to a bridle. It's the only time he's ever rude and it's giving him a bad name!

Thank you

Meant to say, I think it stems from being at a yard where an inexperienced 'worker' turned him out in the morning, he seemed to have got away with murder!

Why not use a bridle?? Do you not ride in one? In which case what is wrong with leading to and from the field wearing it? I would suggest that if you are in danger of being pulled over etc then it's much safer! Also if your pony is just doing his own thing then he is being very rude!!

Would add that my horse wears a bridle to be lead as he can be naughty and it means that anyone, other than myself, can lead him safely whereas I would be concerned that he could hurt someone.

kemp controller is the way to go - my horse used to pis off in a chiffney but in a kemp you can turn them on a sixpence! Not sure if they are off the market at the mo but you can just advertise for one my friend did and got one for 4 pounds:D
