Hi all, this product is not licensed in the uk, but I was wondering if there is any way I could get hold of it, basically one of the reccomendations for treating horses that are very poorly like my ebs is a daily wormer, as any level of parasite in her gut will just make the situation worse for her, a daily wormer works at such a low dose it will stop her from getting worms and be mild enough for her system... she wouldnt be strong enough to deal with normal wormers. So, how would one go about getting it? Would I be able to order it from abroad? Personally I dont care if people think that these wormers are bad and cause resistance, I dont need to hear that, this is for a very valid medical situation so please refrain from using this as a wormer bashing platform :) But any suggestions as to how I may be able to get hold of some would be greatly appreciated :D

I think the only way of obtaining this would be if someone bought it and somehow managed to post it to you. I dont think anyone will judge or lecture you for this I think we would all do the same for our horse. Good luck to you and Ebony xxx

Thank you... thats actually not a bad idea, I have a friend in america who would do this, I will message her! Thanks:)

It's not a bad idea, it's an awful idea. Unlicensed importation of any drug is illegal and if you are caught - not unlikely - will result in heavy fines for you and your friend. If a daily wormer is the only option for your horse and there is no licensed product in this country, then speak to your vet and they can apply for an import license through the VMD.

Alsiola... I dont care how I end up getting the drug... as long as I get it, Its a strongly recommend part of a treatment plan for horses with IBS - Malabsorption Syndrome. Incidentally how long would the process take to get an import license?

When I need to import foreign medication for humans, it is normally with me within the week. But this is via an import company who already have licenses in place. If your vet supports this, can he do a bit of digging and find a vet who has previously had it imported? Or can the normal wormer be given at a much lower dose so it is equivalent to the daily wormer? Might need a bit of reformulation. All that'd need is for your vet to get a good pharmacist on side, but it may be difficult to find one who'd be willing. If you need any advice about this, pm me - I am an experienced pharmacist
