I'm trying Daisy in a martingale on my RIs advice because she is a bit of a giraffe and I was hoping it would help out hacking. She was really unimpressed yesterday and as soon as she realised that she couldn't stick her head in the air she threw her toys out of the pram. We had bucking fits, dropping the shoulder and trying to charge and trying to go behind the bit which she has never done before.
It was far more effort than hacking her normally is, she's basically very sweet, just a bit opinionated. I felt bad for the friend I was hacking out with because it can't be much fun when a nutty cob is trying to bomb past you.
Is this normal when you first put a martingale on a horse? Would you perservere and hope that she comes through it?
