i have 3 mares, one of which has attitude and is kept on her own as she is agressive at times to the others and my other 2 who are pretty laid back .they can touch, groom etc over the fence.at the moment they are all really cranky with each other.lots of galloping, rearing, kicking out, squealing and generally being pains.nothing in their routine, feed etc has changed so wondering if its hormones .poss first season or just spring in the air.on the ground individually they are all good to handle still but theres a lot of weight throwing going on .any thoughts.

My mare's first season is usually March & the first season of the year seems to be more noticable than others. More ears back, squealing etc. After the first, you can barely tell when she's in season at all.

If nothing else has changed, maybe this is likely to be the cause? I know a lot of mare owners start to feed a supplement around now (oestress, stroppy mare etc) to help with this

mine comes in season all year round and is currently winking and squirting over the fence to nearby gelding!!! whore.
she is like a donkey though when in season - no nastiness or anything just really lazy!!!!

Probably, it's hard for me to tell with my mare now, she acts like she is in season every day of the year! Lucky me

My mare is vile at the moment, she is usually grumps, but first season and she is horrid. So horrid I think riding might be out of the questions til its over!!

I think I will be buying a supplement at the weekend!
