As the title really, I have a lovely warmblood and I seem to get either 14-16 year olds, people who live miles away or people who feel they would want to take him out competing every weekend!!! Argh!

Im trying there and gumtree to no avail! It's been over a month and I have to find him someone as I am buying a house which will drain my time and finances, it's either a sharer or he will have to go on loan which I really don't want to do as he is such a genuine and lovely boy would be unbearable!
Either that or I need to win the lottery! (like everyone else!) :P

I wouldn't rule out teens. Ime a lot of the ones from horsey backgrounds who have ridden & owned all their lives are far more experienced & competent than a lot of adults. Know teens like that normally have their own but in the current climate a lot of people are making cut backs.

Whereabouts are you?
In a couple of weeks I'm moving to just down the road from Temple Court, so I was going to look for a horse to share there.
Incidentally I'm 21 and don't want to compete every weekend! Maybe this could be fate eh?!

I've got nothing against teens and briefly had a teenage who lived very close do could walk to the yard. But I got loads of responses from girls who sounded about 10 - 12 who asked if I could pick them up from the nearest station etc. one told me that she had just learnt to canter !!! Uh I was advertising for an experienced rider who didn't mind hacking on their own! And it quite clearly stated that in the advert.

Riding clubs are the other way to go - see if they have a website/newsletter that you could advertise in!

Getting a sharer is a complicated process - thoroughly vet any candidates as you are trusting them with your horse! Check your insurance if you are covered when someone else is riding. I insist that they have their own personal riding insurance. A formal agreement signed by both parties is essential, detailing responsibilities, how much is to be paid and by when, wearing of hat whilst riding etc etc. notice periods on either side.

I know this sounds full on but have had an "interesting" experience with my old horse - that has led me to be very cautious. I have a brilliant sharer now and she was very happy to sign the agreement.

Thanks everyone. I've never haad problems before and he's the loveliest of the horses I've had and the most talented. (maybe I'm being a little picky)
I might consider teens he is very strong so have to be decent rider to get him light ( saying that some days I look like a sack of potatoes!)

There's a really rude girl in Rokers so I don't go in there anymore, I used to be a very loyal customer to both
Frosbury are really great I will put an ad in their folder I am never sure anyone looks at them

Haha, I get really put off by one of the girls in Rokers - really pushy & annoys the hell out of me! Always breathe a sigh of relief when I go upstairs and she's not there!!

Have you tried asking at other local yards? Cladford, Bridley Littlefield type places they might have friends who are looking? Its a bit of an effort tho!! Good luck

Why don't you go into the yard at Merrist Wood and ask to put a notice up on their board? It's at the top of the yard and you may get some students that are interested:) You can also put some up in the arena too on the ad boards.
