Hey guys.

I have been looking for a nice pair of long riding boots for the coming showing season. I have tried just about every brand going and cant find any to fit me :( I really loved the Ariat Bromonts but they created the same problem all of them have..........too tall :(

Just about every boot ive tried is too tall for my short little legs, i measure (in a half chap) 15" x 15", all the long boots seems to be nearly 17" in length and they just cut into the back of my knee

Anyone else have this problem?? And anyone know a brand of boot i can try which caters for short legs!! I would also need a wide calf ;)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :D

I looked at the Shires boots a while back when I had though I would start competing again. They do lots of lengths and widths and I managed to find a pair that would fit my short podgy legs! They are obviously not the quality of the Ariat boots but they were cheap enough that I figured kept for competitions they would last well,

I wouldnt really want to spend over £200. I have bought myself some Tredstep Leather Gaiters for the time being, ive been told you dont get marked down for wearing these unless its more County Level?

Also.....have been told that the field boot (one with the laces at front), which is the one i like, is not a good look for the showring? Anyone have a different opinion or is this right?

Thanks

Mountain horse boots - I have short legs and need a wide fitting. I now own 2 pairs of Mountain Horse long boots - their leather ones and their winter ones. I seem to remember that they come in a variety of lengths and widths which I realised after I'd bought the winter ones. I was so pleased that they were wide enough in the shop that I bought them and then found out later that I could have got them shorter too! (so you may have to order them in)

I really like the High Rider Sportive ones but have been told they are not the right boot for showing as they are considered more a 'yard' boot. If this is incorrect and you CAN wear them i would definately buy a pair, i have already tried them on but after the shop assisstant told me they would not be any good in the showring i put them back :(

I always thought that the Mountain Horse Sportive WERE suitable for showing. They are the smarter version, more tailored and I've seen plenty of people using them for exactly that purpose.

I know how you feel bein short is a pain sometimes, i bought a pair of shires long leather boots last year, which are really comfy apart from the length, fine when walking but do dig in the back of my knee when i ride, however i just bought a pair of k*ty thermal boots from equestrian clearance.com - they're synthetic leather but omg they are the most comfy boots i have ever put on my feet, so flexible they didnt need the normal 'breaking in', lovely and warm, smart enough for showing and perfect length - i was a bit worried about this bit because some of the customer comments on the site said they were long in the leg, but mine are perfect - to give you an idea mine are size 5 and lengthwise, ankle to top is about 14/15" and the best bit was they only cost me £45 inc p&p - seriously if carlsberg made riding boots they'd be just like these!!

So did i until the lady in the shop told me otherwise! Maybe its just preference?
