I've been thinking of moving the horses (currently 11 miles from home) to somewhere a bit closer to me. I've googled, looked on horsey ad sites but haven't even found any to go and look at (hence had to loan Charlie out etc).

I'm fairly flexible as to size etc pref 3+ acres and 3+ stables but don't really mind how big as will eventually (maybe in the next 2-3 years) be looking for a much bigger yard (prob around 15+ stables so this would just speed things along a bit.

How did you find the yards you rent? Am I going about this in the wrong way or just being useless at googling??

Bump!

I don't know the answer to this but I am also looking for similar and not had much luck. Good luck! Hopefully someone with all the knowledge will come and give us the answers :D

What about driving round at the weekends - loads of back roads etcetera - asking farmers - definitely word of mouth - or put a wanted ad in your local newspaper or free Ad paper and in the saddlery.

Try farmproperty.net They have several rentals available in the Hants/Surrey areas.
Good luck.:)

I think maybe I am being too optimistic with my geographical area.

I'm live in Liphook, work in Godalming so ideally am looking for somewhere between the 2 or not too far in the wrong direction!!

Me thinks I may not be that lucky . . . but will keep trying.

Have been checking local ads but good idea to put a wanted one up.

lots of wanted ads out, and also googling things like

stable yards to let .. then your area.

yard to let

grazing to rent.

always worth looking on your local country type estate agents too.

oh you live near me...my horse is in passfield. there are lots of little yards down there. I did here rumour about a field coming up as whoever was in it before has left now. il see if i can find out. I originally found my field on an advert in feed shop.

yellow pages ring the farms in your area, youll probably find some with stables as well. Last time I did it living in warks I found one 2 miles away and one on the same road as us! In most cases if you ask nicely and say sorry for bothering you etc they are more than willing to help :)

put ads in local shops, newsagents and the like.also agricultural merchants. tack shops. supermarkets. Go and knock on doors, often you get a No but if you leave your phone number and how much you will pay I find sometimes the farmer thinks about it then will ring you to discuss. Try contacting the Church and the Utility companies. I once rented a field off the electricity board, and another the local council owned. Good luck.
