I'm guessing it must be down to the increase in fuel costs, but no one seems to be doing transport anymore!

I want to go to Somerford on the 6th July to do the farm ride. No one at our yard has a space so I need to hire someone, I should have no problem getting other people on board so am looking for 2/3/4 horse transport (with driver).

I have called a few commercial transporters, they are either busy that date or have to charge mahoosive prices which we cant really justify for a 2 hour farm ride.

If anyone on the Lancs/Mersey border or surrounding area knows anyone who is currently doig horse transport, can you PM me with details please?

I'm starting to think its going to be just impossible, last time I went (2 years ago) it only cost £100 between 3 of us for the box, but cant get anything like that now!

All prices have gone up considerably for horse transport. The lorries are vastly expensive, insurance, DEFRA registration, diesel plus paying the driver to drive you there & hang around for hours while you compete & then drive you home again. All this cost alot so the fee of £100 disappeared a long time ago.

Its also a busy day, eg The Royal Show is on.

Even a self drive 2 pony/ 1 horse self drive box hire is 100 a day plus fuel
