please can all you lovely peeps of horse and hound help me out with a big problem i have regarding my daughters welsh sec D pony she has done a bit of show jumping on him and working hunters but she is really struggling to keep a steady pace going into the jumps, he gets about six strides or so away and then sets off as fast as he can into the jump, he jumps ok lands fine and his take off is normally ok, but she is struggling to slow him down once he has landed there for not giving her enough time to prepare for the next jump, he has a snaffle in at the moment not sure to change it if so what to? and if there are any exercises we can do with him, he seems to go a lot faster when he is out of the school and competing at local shows on grass, our pony is 17 and i am not sure if he will ever get out of this habit my daughter is a competant rider and has been riding now for around six years but i am finding this is knocking her confidance a bit i would be most greatfull for your advice thankyou.
