stubben string girths

do they help with saddle slipping round as my girth can be up as much as I think that if I try to put it up another hole her eyes will pop and she is heavyweight cob I can end up slipping to one side even after checking girth during ride

They are supposed to help prevent slipping, however I found my saddle slipped less with an atherstone girth than it did with my stubben string girth. Also found horse didn't like it much either! Keep meaning to sell the damn thing!

I was advised to get one along with a Limpet pad when my pony's saddle shot forward the first year I had him when jumping (he had a bit of a big belly then). For me it worked really well though I haven't had to use it much since as I've managed to keep his weight down a bit better in the summer.

I don't think pony liked it as much as his Thorowgood GP girth though as the Stubben string girth sometimes did pull and catch hair hair bit when I did it up but was fine once on.

Had a similar problem with my last horse. The stubben girth was the best of girths I found to minimise slipping. I didnt have any luck with a limpet pad or any other "sticky" pads. I just used the girth and a plain saddlecloth.

Stubben string girths are the only ones that seem to provide the saddle security needed for my huge cob too, and the only one I've found that she'll willingly accept. I'm waiting for a new one to be delivered as I type this as I stuck my other one in the washing machine, only at 30 degrees but it shrunk enough to cause complications when initially girthing my very girthy mare. I'd had it approx 6 months and had hand washed it on numerous occasions which is the recommended wash method but thought it'd be OK so be warned!
