How are Stubben tree sizes graded? One that I'm trying is marked 29cm and is slightly too wide for my TB but fits ok with my Lemieux half pad with the small front shims in it. The 28cm is too pinchy.

Just wondered how they were graded? Is 29cm a narrow medium or a medium?

I have had these for years and have always been told that 29 is medium (30 medium-wide, 28 medium-narrow etc...). I get the 29 and then have the flocking adjusted by my saddler to perfect the fit, they end up fitting fantastic.

I love my old Stubbens and have 3 of them in various sizes for ever changing youngstock i personally prefer my saddle to be a little wide and use a lovely thick sheepskin and gel pad over it pinching.
i believe they start at a 27 through 32
Narrow = 27
Narrow/Medium =28
Medium = 29
Medium / Wide = 30
Wide = 31
Extra Wide = 32
I dont find them to be a paticuarly large fit and never tried fitting anything broad or cobby always been arabs / throubreds and mw Hunt horse builds and really comfey and hard wearing, love the HDR event saddle too which seems to fit the same as the old stubbens

Brilliant! Thanks for the replies! I hacked out in the one I'm trying and sat a few spooks. I couldn't get a better fit me me than if I went custom. I always use a sheepskin and thick pads on my TB too as she is so sensitive. Just need to try it at a gallop when the weather clears up. :)
