stubborn leathers need sorting out

I have a pair of stirrup leathers, that lost their protective coating too quickly after purchase.. they're very difficult to pull through the bar when adjusting length. Can anyone recommend me a product that can help cure this issue?
I've never in my entire life had a problem like what these are giving me atm

Return to the shop saying they are not fit for purpose.

Good leather does not have a protective coating apart from a hint of white wax when new - this is easily removed using conditioner and rubbing well in. If the surface of the leathers has come off then you should complain. As for the being difficult to get through the stirrup bars, that is all about thickness and rigidity - I find many leathers with a nylon core are thick but floppy and they are a nightmare to get around stirrup bars. Not necessarily the fault of the leathers - you may be able to get your bars moved out fractionally by a saddler, or you need to look for thinner but stiffer leathers.
