aaaaarrrggghh! stubborn kids pony! advice/ideas please!
my daughter little pony is great in so many ways and total trustworthy. if i walk along side pony will be perfect (fab L/R pony) however off l/r can be stubborn. despite my daughter asking him to walk on etc/turn he will just stand and ignore her!! the moment i walk towards him he'll walk on, as i back away he'll grind to a standstill again!!

when hes listening and going well he'll work nicely for her!

suggestions on how to get him listening to her??

it sounds as if she needs to ride him a little stronger, I had one little pony who would do anything for an experienced rider but he would sense if a rider wasnt very strong and he would do what he liked!!
I would suggest a few riding lessons for the pair. x

sorry should of stated in origional post- the previous owner had him as a l/r onto first ridden pony- there daughter riding in all paces and hacking off lead by the time they came to sell him. So he is capable. a few weeks ago my daughter was riding him off lead rein, just doing basics, stopping starting turning, riding through cones etc - just in walk, with a few strides of trot here and there.

all tack/teeth/back checked and fine- it would appear to me he's discovered she's not strong enough/foreceful enough to make him do as she wants- she asks him , he say no and stands stock still, she asks again and he still says im not moving! unfortunatly its knocking my daughters confidence.

totally agree and the lessons on her own pony with a decent instructor should help her. i'm not a fan of whips, but does she carry one - it may be worth, just giving him a little reminder down his shoulder when he decides he wants to have a break. Good Luck xx
