Well my mare who I posted about on here back in Feb who had a suspect GTCT on her ovary has had scans and blood tests all showing nothing...
Referral vet said that his suggestion to sort her out was to put her in foal!! He scanned her on the Weds, said 3-4 days until she is spot on for covering as there were 2 large follicles, so he swabbed her there and then and I contacted a local stud who we have used several times in the past. The only thing in the scan he picked up, was that her uterus was small and not looking like a cartwheel as it should with the state her ovaries were at, but he seemed to make nothing of it.
So, I took her to the stud on Friday 29th April (ready for hopeful covering Sat/Sun).
That weekend they teased her lots and she was just super aggressive and not showing at all, so thought she must have gone out of season. She should be coming in now - again still being very aggressive....
So, she was scanned by the stud vet on Friday and again, two large follicles - should be showing in season. He was told the history (by stud staff) and said he thinks they are probably 'stuck' follicles.
She had a small prostaglandin jab Fri night and another on Sat with the hope she could be AI'd today....
The stud said they have known mares to hold onto the same follicles for months before with no intervention...
Does anyone have any experience of this?!!
What are my chances of getting her in foal and sorting out these problems once and for all?
She has had a sore back and behaviour issues for months now hence the reason for all the investigations in the first place... grr!!!
