Hi all, I'm new to riding and have been taking weekly lessons. Last lesson I misjudged when my horse would start trotting and bashed into the saddle a fair few times. Think I've bruised my coccyx, which hurts at a certain angle but I really don't want to miss a lesson. So I'm hoping someone more knowledgable might be able to help:
Is it possible to have an hours lesson just in walk? (no idea if there's enough things to do to fill an hour)
Would you still ride with a bruised coccyx or should I stop until it's gone?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks :)

You really need to tak to your instructor about this but yes, it is possible to have an hour's lesson in walk. In fact, imo, a few more people should do so, instead of rusing to canter and jump before they have developed an independent seat in walk.
It is possible to get "seat savers" of different kinds which might make you more comfortable in the saddle, if your doctor says it is ok to ride.

If you don't want to do the whole hour in walk why not ask for half and half riding and stable management. You can even ask to do something you're specifically interested in rather than just grooming a horse for the next lesson. Though that is a valuable skill.
