Depends if you have a stud girth or not? I'd probably just go with hind legs if you don't, maybe 1 in each foot should suffice?
I have 2 in front feet and one in back in my lad, often only use one in each foot though as don't use them very often, only when jumping on grass, maybe once or twice a month!

no havent got a stud girth, only just started out doing workers, usually just do the ridden hunter but he seems to be doing really well at workers at the min ... so will just get the hind ones done, thank you !

I had just hinds for all of last year, mainly because I didn't have a stud girth and use my studs for jumping primarily, but stud girths can be rather pricey!
Just hinds should be fine for now, give it a go and see. If you haven't had any trouble with slipping then you might not need studs at all? But better safe than sorry, I thought with mine!

yes well hes been fine so far, he slipped into a fence yesterday but only slightly but still managed to clear it, the only reason im thinking of getting them is ive entered the novice workers for angelsey county and from what i can remember the ring was on a slight slope and cos of the unpredictable weather there thought it may get slippy , and yes ive seen the price of the stud girths lol !

I have always jumped all my horses without stud girths and I have never had a problem.

I stud 2 on each front shoe and 1 on the outside of the back shoes.

Only recently now i'm beginning to jump over 1.10m have I decided to buy a stud girth; which I bought a off of eBay for £35 and I was really pleased with the quality.

I do BSJA & BE and its holding up to the job fine.

I would use 1 on the outside of the hinds. I would only use front studs if its really slippy and the course is tight / twisty. And only ever with a stud guard. You can get cheapish ones off Ebay.

and from me too. I was going to post on the same subject this week as I am having stud holes put in for the 1st time next week (assuming my farrier remembers this time - he forgot last month!).

You dont need a stud girth.
I've evented up to adv level for 10 years and never had a horse stud its self.
For the studs you only need one outside edge of all 4 shoes.
keep front studs as small as possible.
