I am new here...but a friend (we live in France) has an unregistered stallion but for some reason or other she wont register him in France. He is gorgeous and I would like to use him with my girl but she says I cant register any offspring. I know the laws are complex and even more so in France but can someone put me straight. I have registered all my stock but even that was difficult as without bloodlines you cant use for show jumping over a certain height....help!!!!

Hi - I'm fairly new to this forum too.
In France if you want the offspring to have "Full Papers" (plein-papiers), both the mare and the stallion need full papers too. If only one of the parents has full papers, then the foal has the right to half papers, providing the lineage is recognised by the French National Haras.

Were are you in France? Our horses and weekend retreat are in 01 Ain in the Bugey!! I compete my "Origin inconnu" gelding in Trec competions where there's no fussy restrictions.
