Very silly question I know...:o

But is there any point in using studs in just the front shoes?

Pony doesnt wear back shoes (unable to actually get the nails in for shoes as they're so hard!) but could do with studs for xc or jumping on grass :)

Many Thanks :p

I dont like using studs in front unless the ground conditions are very slippery and even then the studs are the smallest possible, the horse tends to use its back feet to push and steady itself more than the front which need to slide a little to to prevent too much concussion.
If you are going xc or SJ round fairly big tracks and the horse is slipping and losing confidence you may need to consider hind shoes so you can stud.
