Planning on using studs for the first time this month , have been recommended 20mm ones.
Just wondering what sizes others used as have been told to always start small and then go up as needed.
My horse is a part bred Connie , 15.2 hh

As no one else has replied - I don’t know. I just go by instinct on whether hard ground slippery or wet. Sorry about that. Perhaps google may have an answer.

Yep depends on the discipline, ground conditions etc imo. It's not just the size but the shape as well. Can you give some more details OP?

yeah on my horse similarly sized to the OP i used the dressage studs for everything behind and either those or the sharp ones in front. unless it was really soft. but I preferred to err on the side of caution esp with a smaller lighter horse.

Someone more experienced than me might be able to comment on whether this is reliable or nonsense…

Thanks sheep, that’s a great guide. I’ve been recommended both the dressage ones and the dome ones and told that should do for everything at my level.
I suppose with more use it will be easier to judge what ones suit best for what.
Thanks guys
