Hello
I previously posted about fencing for a new foal im buying at 6 months old. After advice have decided to put up a permanent fence rather than risking electric fencing. Husband is a joiner so can do the work himself, i priced up post and rail and also the studrail and am not sure what would be best.. The stud rail is around £150 more plus cost of the fittings. Is it worth the extra money?? It's yo fence in a native foal and escape artist Shetland! I'm a bit concerned that the Shetland will be able to run through the stud rail? Any feedback would be great!
Many thanks!

I've used the special horse stock style fencing with my youngsters and never had a problem. It is much higher than sheep fencing and the holes at the bottom are much smaller so there is no risk of getting a foot caught. I originally had post and rail and whilst it looks lovely unless you run electric standoff along it there is a very good chance that it will get chewed. The final straw was when the miniature I had borrowed as a companion for a newly weaned foal ran through the post and rail and smashed it.

The advantage of the stud rail products I have looked at is that you can electrify them.

Thanks very much for the reply! Yes my worry with post and rail is the Shetland running through it and the foal following on....
