Hi

I am just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on studs as i have never had to use them before? How many do i need and in which shoes hinds or fronts for going cross country?

Up to you...depends on your horse and what level you compete.
My connemara events at intro and has one in outside of each shoe, my TB isn't quite so sure footed, he events at novice so he has two in each shoe.
I use them for all disciplines of eventing, not just xc. They ride a better dressage test on grass with studs.
Generally use small-medium pointy ones as they go nicely into hard ground as well as softer. If v heavy going I use square ones. Never overstud as can strain tendons!
