Any advice on whether or not studs are a good idea and what i should be aware of when using them? I will definitely take some experienced advice, but would be grateful for any pointers. My daughter's pony hasn't had them to date, but she only got him in the spring. Now she is starting to do some cross country - only small ones 2ft or thereabouts (though he actually jumps nearer 3ft over them!) but he did slip a couple of times at the weekend on longish wet grass, so I wondered if studs would be a good idea.

The jumps maybe small at the moment, but he is fast and very nippy. Also we saw a big horse slip right over just before a practice jump at the weekend and it made me think that perhaps studs would be a good idea for us. Thoughts?

I only use studs if the ground is slippery. I used to use 1 behind and that was all, now I use 2 in all 4. I have used studs I think twice this year. If XC and there is long grass or not a lot of covering again I may use them for grip
