Great news for pedigree dogs has come from a study by the Royal College of Vets. 148741 dogs were studied & there was no rates of health differences found between pedigree dogs & crossbreeds/mongrels. Though crossbreeds/mongrels showed a bigger tendency to Degenerative Joint Disease & pedigrees more ear infection, obesity & skin growths. It's great to hear something positive about pedigree dog breeds for a change.

It means that pedigree are as healthy as crossbreed & mongrels despite what the popular press say. Though mongrels/crossbreeds are more prone to Degenerative Joint disease than pedigrees. The report from R.C.V.S is published in Dog World this week.
