A belter of a letter from my new friend Judi Hewitt:

Once again we see hunts being allowed to do just as they please while the rest of us have to obey the rules. I am of course referring to their exemption of park authority rules where they are allowed to let a whole pack of dogs loose on Exmoor while you and I have to keep our dogs on a short leash. Stuff the rules until they apply to all.JUDI HEWITT,

http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/displa...ame=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch

The exmoor park authority requires dogs to be kept on a leash to prevent them flushing out breeding wildlife at certain times for conservation reasons.

The hunting act requires people to prevent their dogs flushing out wild mammals at anytime unless they are prepared to shoot them.

One sensible law which Judi says we should not obey.

Another crazy law which she constantly insists people do not obey.

As she wanders round exmoor breaking the law by letting her dogs off the leash. How will she prevent them from flushing out and dispersing wild mammals?

Of course the truth is that the Hunts are the ONLY people obeying the law by shooting the wild mammals they flush out.

Judi is right. The hunts should stuff the Hunting Act unless the authorities are willing to make everyone obey it.

I'm not sure but I think you're on the wrong end of this stick and making it out to be a pro hunting comment.
When someone starts off with "Once again we see hunts being allowed to do just as they please" it implies that she is not happy about the rules being relaxed for the hunt, "while the rest of us have to obey the rules" implies she is not a hunter.

I read it as she is breaking the rules UNTIL the hunts are stop letting the dogs run off the leash.

Yeah and likewise hunts should break the Hunting Act until other dog owners start obeying it. Why should the fox hounds obey it as I clearly don't have to.

If the law isn't going to be applied fairly it shouldn't be applied.

Hewitt has hit the nail on the head there.

Yeah but one dog (or a cpl) running riot is a hell of a lot of difference from an entire pack of fox hounds on the rampage.

LMAO

The only difference is the number involved. Nothing else.

Breaking the law is breaking the law. There is no middle ground.

True. Still a huge difference though.

No there isn't. T

There is no difference at all.

Breaking the law is breaking the law whether you do it with a pack or just one dog.

Offenders should be prosecuted, if they aren't it brings the law into disrepute.

Everyone knows the police are just letting hunting continue.

I wasn't refering to the law, I was refering to the consequences.

A pack of hounds has the potential to do more damage and cause a lot more harm than one or two pet dogs.

I have never said that either party should obey/disobey the law. In fact I never mentioned the law at all.

Hello Nemesis

I have the strangest feeling we have met before.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was within the law to flush with up to two dogs. So if you only had one dog, then you would be within the law.

I wan't aware of that but I have to say it has made my heart sink.

It seems that there is yet another loophole in the law.

What now is to stop the hunters just going out with one or two dogs and continuing in their evil ways.
