I took one of my horses on a pleasure ride yesterday, he hasn't done many so was excited/nervous, shortly after starting he kept on rubbing his nose on his leg, pulling down with his head, getting anxious, anyway we finished, when I got off him his mouth was swollen up and was rock hard, I then noticed hives on both sides of his neck and shoulders, and he was shivering on his flanks and shoulders, he wouldn't stand still and didn't want his feed, I loaded him straight up and took him home, gave him antihistamines and kept an eye on him, a few hours later he was looked much better, I didn't see any bees or wasps around but im gathering hed been stung, what other insects are around at the moment, as im afraid he might have a worst reaction next time. could his adrenaline with being on the ride stopped it from being worse??
