stupid Equidry question

Just got mine and rode in horrific rain this morning and it was great!

Stupid question though...do you do up the leg straps once you are on, and undo them before you get off?

I nearly killed myself getting off when they kind of got stuck (maybe on my boot?) and I couldn't straighten my leg or something (not really sure what happened!) and I nearly landed on my bum! Maybe I have done them up too tight? Too loose?

Help me!

Ha ha, I rode in mine for the first time today. Had a similar problem dismounting, got caught up on the cantle.
Hopefully some experienced users will be along in a minute.
I wondered if it was because I went for a normal coat fit rather than the oversized fit.
It was snowing at the time so I didn't spend long thinking about it, was going to assess in better weather tomorrow ?
