stupid fat knee. Is there anyway to calm down reactive TB wounds?

Nitty's knee is still fat. She's had her ABs and her bute and is left with her customary squishyness that will take a month to go. No infection, no heat, no pain. It just takes a long time to shift the fluidy swelling

Is there anyway to 1) stop her over reacting to tiny little scrapes and 2) to encourage the swelling to naff off once she has had a massive over reaction?

Else, would any other TB owners like to sympathise?

Didnt you know all tbs are made of tissue paper! seriously though i think exercise is the best way of getting rid of fluid build up -if the horse is in then gentle walks in hand or as much turnout as poss, maybe get some large rolls of cotton wool to prevent further injury lol ! my tb also came in with huge scrapes on the inside of his thigh yesterday- no idea how!- he doesnt have leg straps and was only out for a hour!

Mines a nightmare if she cuts herself. She lulls you into a false sense if security then Bam ! 4 days later wound goes yucky and injured part blows up like a balloon. Only thing I've found that works with mine is Aloe Vera. I know have a plant I keep at the yard just for her. Anything else just goes yucky and horrible. As for lumps caused by said would I just massage everyday and eventually they 'break down'. Mines got a nice lump on her hock from a tiny cut that needed antibiotics back in november ! It's gradually going down

O she's working. I've been backing her this week. And she's out all day (don't worry folks, vets are adamant she's fine!) but yeah, cotton wool would be good to prevent future scrapes. She's a menace. The fluid just seems to hang around more or less forever! Grr! Daffy ceature!

No she isn't fed anything besides grass and haylege. Don't want to give her any more energy than she already has!

Carefreegirl, you have described her perfectly! Little monster. I might just cut her legs off and see how that helps!

She has been a nightmare this year with the lumpy hock extrodinaire. Ended up having surgery and the whole shebang!

Try arnica tablets available from chemists or some supermarkets, 2 tablets 2 - 3 times a day, don't touch the tablets but tip into a bit of apple or carrot, worked wonders for one of mine with huge fluid swelling on chest following kick.
