Ok, so the livery yard i am at (DIY i may add) is near a golf course, after a couple weeks of settling in, hacked in woods properly today,, jeeeeez why did not on tell me not to go past the red cone, i just assumed it had been left there i didnt realise past the red cone was prone to golf ball missiles firing at me and my young mare! after the strange sound of club hitting ball spooked her, ball hurtled towards me in a matrix slow mo kinda style, quickly spun her to make a quick exit, however now so spooked she pretty much bolted back to the saftey of the track by the yard, what i hadnt realised what i was shouting "aaaaarrrrrgggghhh" the whole time! and loads of people heard :( great first impression!

You've made me laugh after I've cried at some posts tonight....you'll laugh about it tomorrow! They are golfing on a golf course, so you can't criticise them and your horse will soon get used to the noise of the club hitting the ball x

It's okay Sammi...
We once went on a hack there was 5 of us - to name the horses there was cheeky pony, not very sane, youngster, bombproof and mental!! Decided to go a different way to the way we usually went - found ourselves in unfamiliar territory.
"Hmm" we thought "this is interesting, could be quite a nice hack"
*cue gun shot and horses scattering*
If that wasn't bad enough...
*cue guy in camo gear LEGGING IT out from under a bush, covered in paint and about 10 other people running after him "shooting him"!*

We'd only gone and wandered onto a paintball course!!
The horses just about flipped - even the bombproof lad managed a little trot away from the area! We laugh about it now....

I know there was a golf course there, but i'd said to a another horse owner, how do i get to the woods, she said go down track take a left then a right, etc, however i got to a bit and saw red cone, no one having mentioned this, i assumed this had just been left there...so carried on, will not make that mitake again :-)

Hahaha! Luckily never had it happen to me, although I've had it from the other perspective a few times...

Every now and then I play something called airsoft, which is basically paintball but with bb guns. The guys get properly dressed up in replica gear and are quite anal about it all, but if you can get past that aspect it's surprisingly good fun. Anyway, we always rope off any footpaths etc that might happen to cross the land we play on, but every now and then get unsuspecting walkers / dog walkers wandering right into the middle of a game. They always look somewhat shellshocked when about a dozen guys (and one girl) in camo emerge from the underbrush holding what look like proper guns, waving at them to get out the way!

There is actually a bridlepath that runs through the woods too. I'd hate to think what might happen if a rider ignored the tape and a horse got hit by a bb... probably pandemonium.
