Some Horses are really stupid! Bringing in Betty tonight as normal, she decided to go tanking off with me in hand...

Gave her a verbal telling off for being stupid.. anyway, decided to give her a bit more hay tonight as she had none left this morning, so filled a nice new hay net and went to put it in her stable...

she went nuts.. stupid horse... snorting about her stable like i had just hung a monster in her stable.. GRRR.. so i took the haynet out obviously it was offending her and she went back to normal just eating from other hay net.. went back in stable to try and put new hay net up and she went mad again... so i took a handfull of the hay out the net and offered it to her.. lol she turned her nose up at it in disgust.. baring in mind this horse would normally kill for food

anyway, i decided that she could either be hungry tonight or deal with the hay net. Needless to say i left her sulking in the corner giving evils to her new hay net!!!!

lol, sounds like my horse..coming past the school tonight and seeing a shetland on the lunge was the perfect excuse to start snorting and prancing about and this was after she spent 5 mins squaring up to the old boy in the next paddock while i was trying to get her head collar on! got her in her stable and she promptly slung her feed bucket across the stable then tried to put her feed ball in her water bucket, havnt a clue whats got into her tonight so just left her to get on with it!

My friend bought her pony a new feed bowl last winter. Her old one was a green plastic standard job, so she replaced it with an identical, but new one. The pony wouldn't eat out of it for over a week, just snorted and hid at the far side of her stable! It took bribery with serious amounts of carrots to win her over.

perhaps there is something sinister in the hay .... I found a broken crop in the hay once and wondered what happened to the rider!!!!

... another time I had the remains of a rabbit

..... so I expect your horse can smell something not quite right with the contents of the net!!! They are smarter than we think!

dont think there is anything wrong with the hay, the other net had hay from the same bale in it.. I think she was just being stupid... every so often she has a silly turn and sees things, lol there was probably a gremlin hiding in it.. Bad mummy for letting the monsters in!!

My horse wouldn't go out in the field the other day with his field companion cos she was wearing a rug!
Just to confirm that horses can be plain daft!

My old hrose was frightened of hard feed unless it was in his manger. If you put it in a bucket or on the floor he just hid in the corner of his stable. He would eat out of a bucket outside though!! What a wierdo
