I thought it would be fun to share what could be described as Stupid Lightbulb Moments, ie those instances where you have a bit of an epiphany, only to realise it is the most bleedin’ obvious thing in the world...

Here is mine.

Pro
Horse seems to go so much better in a dressage test than in normal day to day schooling.

Reason:
Tests are structured and this helps focus his attention. Plus I probably subconsciously work harder at my riding and being consistent.

Therefore:
I need to plan my schooling sessions in a more structured way instead of just winging it (especially now we can’t have regular lessons).

It seems so simple when I look at it like that!!!
Looks like the hour between finishing working and going to the yard is going to be spent planning ?

Horse hesitant to load in the trailer.

If I open the windows in the other stall and the front door on the other side, horse loads fine.

Just needed more awareness/light to see inside.

DUH

Horse a butt head to gallop on fitness days.

Horse not a butt head to gallop after 20 mins of flat work.

DO 20 mins of flatwork BEFORE a gallop.

Duh.
