Slightly ranty as this has really wound me up!
Neighbour has two paddocks of 1.5 acres each grazed by a few sheep. The rested one is ankle deep in grass so she agreed to let k friend graze it. Friend has just turned 2 donks and an already obese 10hh pony out into the whole field, no restriction or muzzles. Grass is past ponys fetlocks and pony looks like he has been blown up with a bike pump . seems cruel to me as it already had no ribs and huge crest and surely must damage heart and lungs .
Grr., stupid people!

Isn't it now accepted that an owner can be charged with neglect by over feeding as well as under feeding?

Maybe speak to WHW?

Blue Cross were also running a campaign against obesity in horses. "Fat Horse Slim". Some kids were having great fun sticking their leaflets on the pens of over weight natives at a local show but I doubt it did much good!

Long grass isn't as bad as it seems , with reference to the laminitis issue short newly grown grass is much richer in sugars and therefore worse for ponies at risk to laminitis , I'd speak to owner about maybe sectioning some of it off .
