Hello 👋
Any one had the similar experience and could offer an outcome 🙈🙌

Back in June, my lovely not so little 16hh yearling trod on my foot with good force ( in a rubber matted lorry with jodhpur boots on !)

There was no swelling and the only bruising that appeared is a tiny 1cm wide bruise that follows the curve of my nail ( which has grown up now)

In the weeks after it felt like I had a pointed rock under the ball of my foot ( big toe joint ) at all times which seemed to get better, we are now 9 weeks on and it still feels the same and even when I'm not on it it's feels like a numb ache. I'm quite tolerant of pain.

I was hoping it would go away and it hasn't so any experiences ?

Is this a GP Job ?
Minor Injuries unit walk in ?

AHH don't we just love these wonderful animals

Im going to go against the grain and say GP. They can request the xray. A lot of MIU are funded to see only new urgent injuries. Our local ones would bounce anything more than 2 or 3 days old to GP unless a strong history of high level trauma. 9 weeks is no longer an emergency.

It's a funding thing and not their choice. GP can get the xray and the report. If there's an obvious fracture that needs urgent immediate treatment the radiographer will divert the patient to appropriate treatment or referral. Everything else can go for a quick ortho referral if needed. It may vary place to place but most are funded in this way.

I'd also say GP- I've had x-rays requested by the GP (and got an appt within a couple of weeks), if you've put up with it this far it's presumably pretty bearable. Also, if it is broken, it's been so long there's probably not much a MIU can usefully do for you.

I like to know if things are broken even if its not something they will actually treat as it helps to know how long it could take to heal. And with feet I bet most of us have had a fracture and didn't realise it. I've had 2 confirmed and another I think was - I now have an enlaged joint just up from where you get a bunion which still swells and hurts sometimes (it was probably 5 years ago I got trodden on).
