I feel really silly but I just can't get my stirrup irons to work! Not sure if I've got two right foot irons.

I know the bend goes towards the horses head and you turn the stirrup towards you as you get on right? The right foot works but I cannot get the left one to bend the right way. How do I put them on and are both stirrups in the pair the same or should they bend different ways?

When they're hanging down from the saddle the bend should be on the side nearest the horses head and bend in towards the body.
Then when you mount you turn the left stirrup anticlockwise and the right clockwise so that the bend ends up on the outside of your boot with the curve again towards the front.
The bend should be on the opposite side of each stirrup.

Thank you. That makes sense and I'll try that again but I think I have two of the same stirrups as they both bend the same way. Will have to find someone with two left stirrups! Only me.

Are they new stirrups? If so there may have been a mix up when packaging, you should have a left and a right. If so you could take them back to the shop and exchange them.

I got given them new at Christmas but then my horse has been out of work so whenever I have ridden I've thought I needed to change it but then not been able to work it out! I might see if they will swap them if the shop has two left stirrups as they are still like new.

They should not be the same. Left and right stirrups need to be mirror images of each other. I think you got a mis-matched pair.
