Sturdy squeaky dog balls, do such things exist?

Following on from my recent thread which ended up introducing our new-to-us 3yo JRT...

She is clearly toy driven, which is a first for us. We need to stock up with a selection of toys.

We got her this from Morrison’s, which she absolutely adored as she could chase it all over the floor while playing with it indoors. It lasted a few minutes... I think we have found and accounted for all the debris o_O.

Can anything recommend a sturdier version of this? I’ve looked on line but stuff gets very mixed reviews. Small tennis ball size would be ideal.

Thanks.

Nope. We have tried them all. Hector has a squeaky toy only on special occasions. We celebrate if they last more than 30 seconds.

We have tried cheap ones and also really expensive ones. We tried brand names known for being tough. Not tough to a terrier sadly, although some brands have lasted up to 2 1/2 minutes, but that is not really value for a £12 toy!!!

We have used the talking solid balls (light blue), they last a long time, and need batteries. He loved them and they would last a few weeks, but he smears spit all over his own face and if you get the size wrong they get stuck in their mouth and you have to help a panicked dog to get released (because they are hard plastic with absolutely no give - they get wedged behind his teeth).

Our best purchases have been solid rubber type flashing balls. The flashing adds enough interest and they last ages before the rubber is chewed into oblivion.

We have had to give up on rope toys as he shreds them quickly and then chokes on the loose threads. One of those nearly necessitated a vets visit, but a head torch and brave/steady hand won the day.

I did have a ball that was rubber on the outside and crinkles in the middle. The crinkle stuff was dispatched in one sitting, but the outer rubber has done OK as a stand alone toy since.

Antler horn is good value. Not really a toy though.

Tennis ball material is stripped and choked on in double quick time.

Tough rubber pull toys etc are of no interest to him. They have to have interest like a noise, a flash or at least be round so it moves when he pounces.

Congratulations on your new companion, TP. I hope you have many fun filled years together.

Avoid anything with batteries for a destructive chewer.

West Paw Zogoflex Boz are good balls - no squeak though. Tennis ball size. They bounce, float and according, to the label of the one in front of me, "dogs love the squish". My late GSD could vouch for that last claim. He wasn't destructive but liked to squash the ball as he carried it and they lasted him longer than other balls.

If you want to avoid broken teeth I would steer clear of hard chews.

ETA I have never found vinyl toys to be resilient, thick TPR is a better choice.

Our last JRT was very destructive with balls and various toys however we bought an Earthy Pawz squeaky rope toy that he adored and the squeak was buried deep inside the body so didn't come into contact with teeth. Unfortunately the model we have is no longer available but there is a rhino version that I would buy for our next JRT.

I'm very happy that she is happy in her new home.
I have enver found a squeaky anything that lasted longer than ten minutes with a terrier. :-). Poppy the border got one every year for Christmas, by the time we had opened our presents the squeak was removed. (Thank goodness!).

Nope the kongs last minutes and the purpose of these toys is to actually remove the squeak didnt you know. It's what it is all about.

Had toys made out of fire hose meant to be really tough lasted 10 minutes. I have yet to find anything she cannot get thexsqeak from. Terriers sure are industrial killers.

my very tiny terrier has destroyed everything, all of the so called tough toys and kongs and if it has a squeaker that will be taken out within minutes. i only allow play time with a ball if i am supervising so that my collie cross does have a chance to play ball sometimes as she loves them and would never destroy anything...antlers are the only things that last for him...

Thanks all for your contributions. Seems like I’m looking for the impossible. Still, I’ll try one or two suggestions from here and see how we go, so thanks for all the suggestions.
Maybe a second dog would be the best solution?
This is definitely the plan! We’ll get her settled in and then look for a puppy, probably in the New Year. I want our winter sheep to have moved off first, so that our land is fully our own again with no unnecessary distractions. They will be off by Jan 1.

How about the canvas wrapped Kong Wubba toys? They're pretty hard wearing but not good for footie dribbling because of the tails...

We use the red and blue squeaky Kong balls that smell like coconut? They’ve stood up to the sheps and ball obsessed collies and actually cause fights because they’re the faves

I got this from B&M for my rottie x collie. She's had it for about 6 months and its still in 1 piece and still squeaks, it's her favourite ball and it's never far from her mouth. She's almost 9 months old so does a lot of chewing. It is slightly bigger than a tennis ball though.Screenshot_20191202_125136.jpg

Thanks again for all your advice. I’m still waiting for suggested stuff that I’ve ordered on the internet, so today I toddled off to Pets at Home and came back with a basketful of stuff to keep her going, eek. PaH didn’t have antler horn so I got a piece of buffalo horn core instead, which is popular but is already rather smaller than it was!

She is ecstatic with the Kong Jumbler, which she can dribble, chew and squeak. Goodness knows if it’ll last, though.

Chukit balls are good. Pricey but last. I'm a dog walker and they are the only balls that last. You can get squeaky and non squeaky versions

So far so good with the Kong Jumbler :). Also the antler horn has arrived, and that is proving to be much more resilient than buffalo horn.

She finds the horses to be rather alarming, so some on lead play while they’re around at a distance will hopefully help her get more settled with them. The P&R fence has chicken wire on so it is dog proof, but I don’t want her to rush up to it woofing. The horses are all well used to JRTs and this one is inspecting the new recruit!
