For RC style / equitation jumping. I enter the arena, salute to judge then do a figure of 8 showing trot & canter on both reins and then carry on cantering until the bell goes when I start my round, then carry on cantering after Ive done the final fence until the whistle blows again? And I dont salute at the end?

Does this sound right? Ive done it before but cant remember very well!

WHAT WHAT WHAT? I thought you just jumped round - ohhh I am so glad you posted this as I have to do the style thingy on the 22nd!! Can anyone clarify please!

Weezy - When you enter the arena you need to salute. (Make sure the judge is looking - sometimes they're still writing). You then need to show canter on both reins (no need to trot a figure of eight) until the bell rings. You then commence your round. The judges are looking for forward riding, correct preparation, balance & position. (Think working hunter.....it should flow.) There ate quite precise directions as to what fences should be used, & the course must include a stile. This year there is also an optimum time based on a speed of 350m/m, & the course should be measured generously. There is no penalty for being faster, but for every second over the optimum time you get one penalty point deducted.
Judges are also instructed to take the 'diificulty' of the horse or pony in to account.
After you have jumped the last fence you must keep cantering -again showing both reins until the bell rings. There is NO need to salute again.
