My 9 year old ex racehorse has today been diagnosed with Subchondral bone disease, I just wondered if anyone has been through this before and what was the outcome? The prognosis is very poor as I understand it, he is having his fetlock joints medicated and cartrophen injections. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dear OP
Many years ago we had a mare who after much agro with local vets went to Lamborn for a scan which showed a "subcondral bone cyst" in the front leg. She was quite lame for quite a while.
Local vet said this and that. But specialist in lamborn said turn her away and forget her for 6 months. No medication, no box rest, just long rest with no work.
She came back into work, and spent many years doing BSJA! No further problems at all!
Good luck with yours.
