So, my h+h subscription is due for renewal in new year, Ipc subscriptions kindly sent me a letter offering a "discounted" price of £109.99 for 12 months. I decided to have a look on the magazines website to check said price and find it is being offered for £89.99!!

I called up and obviously exPlained situation and was given the lower price, but what is annoying is that it seems like they are trying to trick long term customers out of more money! Has anyone else found this??? Very cheeky IMO.

Happens all the time with insurers, and it's business at the end of the day - so a PITA to jump through the extra hoop but no surprise.

Always best to cancel subscription and then sign up again as a new customer. Works with magazines, mobile phone companies, insurance, SKY etc etc.

Unfortunately companies don't reward retention and instead spend more time chasing new customers. Have you ever noticed that if you call up companies and are given the "press 1 for x, 2 for y" options, you get through much quicker if you press the "new customer" option??

I keep meaning to call up and cancel my subscription too. I was going to do it and then sign up again at Hickstead as they were giving away rugs with new subscriptions but I never did in the end.

will def look into it now though. Mind you they never write to me when my renewal is due??
