Hi, I'm new to this forum thing, but I had seen a few posts about Substi bute, posted last year.

Has anyone had any results since then - good or bad?

I have bought a pot of it today then come home and read the previous posts about it and now I'm wondering if I should be taking it back!!

My horse has an old injury in his fetlock - he has started to drag his hind toe and has been a bit stiff on this leg. He has been on Cortaflex since I got him, so I don't really know if thats ever had any effect, but recently I have bought some Pernamax. He's been on it about 2 weeks now, he is not as stiff but still not 100%

So I have been looking for something to help with the discomfort. There were a lot of supplements to choose from in the saddlery but Substi bute 'guarenteed' results!

Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.I cannot comment of Substibute.I have used No Bute by equine America and found that is good.I always given a little splash of cider vinegar in every feed it is very good for joints.I would of thought you should have seen a marked improvement with the Cortaflex though!.

Supplements do vary massively but if it is a joint problem it is vital that the correct dose of joint supplement is fed or it has little chance of having a significant effect. Surprisingly most of the leading brands are the biggest culprits for under dosing.
haven't had experience with substi-bute though sorry. have used no bute but can't say I am convinced whether it actually has an effect. You could try looking on the Riaflex-equine website also as this has useful info and therapy grade joint supplements.
Good luck!
