My pony doesn't hold condition like he use to even though he's only 15. He's not thin, nothing medically wrong that vets can find etc. I could just about persuade him to eat a bit of blue chip during the late summer and it did help him condition wise but he now refuses to eat his feed igf there's blue chip in it! He's on Baileys top line/conditioning cubes (he likes those for now!) but would also like to feed something similar to blue chip as well. Any suggestions most welcome! Thanks!

Equilibra is the big rival to Blue Chip, so would seem the obvious alternative - if it tastes any different. Otherwise how about Baileys Outshine, if he likes the Topline cubes?

Topspec is a balancer. So it comes in small pellets and you can feed it added in with mix/cubes. I use it for my old girl and at the moment and she has nothing but chaff with it. Once into winter I'll be feeding her a senior mix too.

I do think lo cal is fab stuff too (I use that for my other girl) BUT lo cal is designed to give nutrients to good doers without them putting on weight, so it's not really going to help your horse gain the lbs.

My lad is a fussy feeder and he will also get bored of feed. He drops weight in the winter so i have him on Allen and Paige Calm and Condition he loves it and for the past 2 winters he has held his weight and condition and more importantly not gone off it.

It is small pellets like Blue chip but you soak it for 10 mins and it is only £10 per bag.

I have tried him on Blue chip but it only got him so far then stopped working.

If he likes cubes and youre just looking for a bit of condition I can highly recommend Spillers Response Slow Release Cubes.....much better than Baileys no4 IMO...you could feed him that, Alfa A oil and a bit of speedibeet and he'll be a chunkster in no time.

Spillers cost about £11 a bag.....
