Subtle Lameness with no obvious reason, what could it be?

My mare tracks up evenly with both hind legs, but drops her right hip. She has no cuts, no swellings, no obvious reasons why she's not quite right.

The hip dropping is less obvious on a hard surface than or a soft surface.

Any ideas?

Suspensory ligament issues (PSD) show up on a soft surface rather than a hard. Can also only show a very mild lameness. My mare was just "not quite right" and i had been having few s problems when trying to lift her hind legs as did farrier - reluctant and trying to snatch it away. Traspires she has a mild PSD and is now on box rest and controlled exercise for 3 months. She passed a 5 stage vetting just months or so ago - rather gutted say the least !

Oh thats rubbish! Did the same vet who vetted her diagnose the PSD?

I just had my vet out who said she has a sore right hock, he nerve blocked it to confirm and then injected with Cortisone, so fingers toes and hooves crossed she'll be better now.

I was riding her before and after he nerve blocked and I find it really hard to feel the lameness when it's subtle. I can see it but not feel, and as there was no one to trot her up I couldn't look at it myself after the nerve block. Hopefully will have a look tomorrow, and also hope he's fixed it!
