I went to see my horse today. I hadnt said anything on here but i was VERY nervous. I've had such a crash in confidence again and was preparing for the worst.

Last time i saw her, her owner attempted some lunging. It went quite badly (not all the horses fault) and i went home seriously thinking 'god, im not going to be able to do this!'.

Anyway today i asked for my own time with her, invested in a new lunge line and whip, and brushes.

Well i brought her in from her feild (i was definitely nervous) she recognised me as soon as i got there and dashed forwards for cuddles, :D and though was a bit bolshy at first i stopped her, then we walked on my terms.

I began to groom her. she isnt used to it and her whole right side was covered in mud. Well once we gathered that the shiny blue brush actually felt lovely we got one side completely done, with feet ect. Her right side obviously isnt comfortable for her but she stood (with a few nuts as a well done-i know i know- but its what she is used to and i alternated treat, fuss, treat fuss, she is such a fidget) It was extremely windy today and she was very good.

Anyway one we had spent a while with grooming and getting comfy i showed her the lungerope and whip, touched her with them, moved them around her ect ect. (very scary...oh maybe not..hmmm that tickles.. hang on that was scary...oh its just that thing ...okay i like them can i get a treat now??)

I clipped her on (all hatted and gloved up etc) and did a bit of walk, pause just to see if she was listening to me which after a few tug of wars over the grass she was, perfectly.

Then was the big bit. Lunging. I stopped her, walked back and tutted her on, she wasnt keen. i lifted the whip slightly ad she walked, then produced a beautiful rhythmic trot. we kept that up and then argh. She has a habit of stopping dead to graze and high stepping over the rope. then she panicked and started to spook. My hear was in my mouth but i stayed calm, dropped the rope and let her calm herself. she then stopped and i untangled her and was so stressed but i thought, NO, im not finishing on a note like that.

Brought her back into the centre, got her going (first time) and she was off with the most amazing trot. she is so balanced. the circle was perfect, i didnt need to move at all, she looked at me, i kept behind her, keeping her going and she just listened!!! the feeling was immense.

I brought her back to walk, then halt and she was so happy. I gave her a huge fuss, and then she followed me back to her stable like a puppy.

Her owner had been watching and said to OH that she had never been able to get her to do anything near as good as that.

Im so happy. I've let myself doubt my abitilies so much but today just proved the complete opposite. im so pleased and if anyone has any constructive critscisms or advice id love to hear it. All i wish now is that id had someone film it :D :D :D
