OK so There I was practising my cantering with soft arms and a little finger full of mane to check that I wasnt restricting. Glanced down (oh stoopid girl) to see how stilll my blooming legs might be and check where my toes was and oh b____r!!*!!!**

We was doin such a luverly canter the Big Lump was forward going and occasionally I was cantering over a single pole to boost his enthusiasm when some a****r***s***3 crashed banged or slammed something outside the indoor school and the Big Lump spun and I hit the deck!!

Why success? Well for the first time ever since I bought the Big Lump I wasnt terrified I was sore after all he is 16.3 and 7/8ths I was grumpy because it was my fault for not concentrating but I was NOT terrified.

I got back on and did a few more transitions and a bit of sideways stuff and then got off came home and said Hi to Pinot Grigio and Brufen.

Well done you.

What's the 'finger full of mane' all about? Sounds like something I need to know about.

Its simple really just keep your hands low and your arm soft, have a teensy weensy bit of mane in your fingers if the canter movement means your hands pull against the mane your arms are not soft and going with the flow.

If you end up with a handful of mane your arms are definitly not soft and you arent moving in rythmn with your horse and if your horse ends up bald take up chicken plucking instead !!:D

That's great, well done! My horse is the same sort of height as yours and I tend to find that cos he is so big I always manage to land on my feet *touches wood* :P Much better than landing flat on your back :D

It doesn't feel right congratulating someone for coming off their horse but as yours is a positive outcome - well done! Hope the alcohol and drugs keep the smile on your face :)
