Since my dad will not allow me to fence my lad into his own little 'starvation' paddock so I bought him a grazing muzzle to attempt to cut back his intake as he has started to be brought back into work.
I tried it on him yesteday and he just tried to get it off himself, put it on him this morning and he is looking so depressed. Just stood around giving me the 'i just want to eat' look. I feel so bad especially since I lunged him this morning when it was trying to rain. Wind, rain, mud and work he was not happy at all.
Going to take the muzzle off him, just having it on him for a few hours at a time until he gets used to the idea as my dad has taken over my stable (and ALL of my buckets!!)

so he cannot come in during the day which I wanted.
But yes feel like a bad mum at the moment as Eddie is not happy with me at all at the moment

*Nods* I know it's hard, he doesn't understand why you are doing this, but YOU do!

I know but he really knows how to make me feel guilty, grr.
Yeah I have tried feeding him through it but he still doesn't get the idea so unfortaunlty I have come to the conclusion of, he will figure it out when he is hungry enough I guess.

Yep he is just stood there whilst the horse he is with and the two in the opposite field are stuffing their faces!
I may have to take my camera out so the rest of you can see the look on his face haha

Which type of muzzle do you have? I'd like to put our little ponio out with the others, but our grass is quite short, and every type of muzzle i've seen looks like she'd be able to get nothing at all! But even short grass in the 4 acres the others are in would be too much for her, she is very lami-prone. So have just got her in her own little patch. Any recommendations would be great!

Emma, likewise. I am unable to fence him into his own field and he is in two massive fields and although the grass is very short with the fact there is so much of it he is bound to have more than he should.
Mine is in a shires one, and so far is great!

So can he get any grass through it at all? Maybe I should invest in one and put her out with them in it overnight perhaps and fetch her in during day to her little scrubby paddock!!

i have just put gallys muzzle on yesterday and he gave he the sad look too! Silly horses don't they realise that we are acting in their best interests. Has to go and find mine out in the giant field this morning as fat boy had tried to kill it, i then got the 'oh no she found it' look

i use the type of muzzle that has a small hole in the bottom and has
a woven material basket on. All 4 ponies with them on seem to be able to eat with no problems
