All summer we have watched a little duckling struggle with a deformed beak up at the boat on lake windermere - the bottom beak protruded the top by a good half inch and the top beak was deformed but what a fiesty little sod always at front for food and brave too, taking food out of our hands over side of boat. We named it Daffy but last 4 weeks we havent seen it and just though that nature sadly had taken its toll BUT toda there was Daffy at th front as ever and still as bold. Hes smaller than the others but looking so handsome in his male plummage- ok winter can still take its toll but hes made it through first bad weather so fingers crossed and seeing him made me smile like a cheshire cat - simple but nice
