I am so disappointed that no-one has called. Since I last advertised her I have Reg her BSJA and jumping BN, taken her hunting, reduced the price, amended the advert, and still no takers. I don't know what else I can do? Any advice would be appreciated on my ad. She is such a great horse, if anyone came to see her I know they would love her, but it's just getting them to call!

Sorry Rainbow but I think its the price.

I agree with that, especially if you have already reduced it!

I'm sorry, I have to agree. I think the price is a little much for a horse that hasn't won anything under saddle. I think the "chestnut mare" part will put people off too, but you can't help that!

Horsemart isnt really te best place for this sort of horse.
Use just the jumping pic and stick her in Horse and Hound and on Horsequest.

The price isnt too steep imo but drop it to 6k and she should sell no problems, 6800 isnt a good figure, put it to 6500 if you really cant drop to 6k

I agree its the price. My horse was a lot cheaper and hes only a bit older with winnings up to Newcomers.
Have you also considered the current 'credit crunch'? Im a financial adviser for my day job and its just not a good time to be selling anything unless you're offering a bargain really?

Horsemart is crap for selling the better horses, you won't be attracting the right sort of market for her on there, honestly. Horsemart is for the lower end of the market. I would try horsequest and horse and hound. I think she looks like a smasher, but some better jumping photos would do the trick.
Even better, get her plaited up, white bandages on, and get a pro photographer down to your yard and take some really good pics of her on the flat and over fences. It will be worth your money. Good pics sell.

A year ago I'd say the price was fine, but things have changed a lot over the last few months and money is getting very tight for a lot of people. If you really need to sell I'm afriad you'll have to drop further, looks a lovely sort though.

I have taken advice from several professional riders who value her at £8K, I have reduced the price as much as I can already. She is at full schooling livery with an international SJer, and I don't want to lose money on her. Looking at other ads in the H&H etc, there are lots of horses no where near as good as her for more money. Her showing record is outstanding, and she is a very talented jumper. I have put ONO on the ad, and would be negotiable on price as much as I could.
I take your advice though. How would you value her?

Sorry everyone - think the price is bang on - cracking little horse.

Time of year, plus advertise more widely. Have you actually put her anywhere else, such as H&H??

I know its a really silly point but in the top pic all you see is the top of the poles. If I am looking for a jumping horse I like to see the whole jump so as I can get an idea of the height, width, style of her jump ect....
Also £6800...??
Its a mind thing but put £7000 or £6500 people like clear multiples.

Might be worth sticking her in horse and hound, Ryu sold within a week in January and we had around 40 calls most were genuine and minimal idiots. I think shes a little dear though, I filtered their site for everything with similar stats to Ryu then matched ability to get a rough price I accepted an offer in the end though, but then I was leaving for Austrailia and had to sell.

i agree with pudpud...some new better photos would be good....seeing the whole fence is far far better.

Also advertise more widely and would agree about dropping the price at least to £6500 if not more.

Thanks Bossanova. I have emailed the ad to horsequest, but they have not called me back for my payment details yet. I will have to put her in H&H then. I am still cross with them for putting my last ad in there with the wrong number two weeks running!

Plaiting her up and looking a bit smarter in the pics is also a good idea! I will try to do that too.

not sure anything much is moving at the moment - credit crunch putting people off unless they have mega bucks (in which case they'd be spending 10's of thousands on horses)

I like her - agree with jumping pic comment and the chestnut mare comment though.

Depends how bad the financial situation is - if she is costing you £150ish a week at pro yard maybe discount that off and move her home - in 10 weeks you could drop £1k off?

I sold a very nice £12k horse on horsemart so I have to disagree, I have recommended it to my friends (who also advertised elsewhere) and they got there horse sold through horsemart. I agree the chestnut mare will put people off, also the price is quite steep IMO. As said you need to advertise to a wider area. Good luck I am sure at the right price she'll find a lovely home

I would do that, but I don't have an arena or very good trial facilities which I think are important.

sorry not sure if i read wrong but i thought she was with an int SJ surely they have an arena?

when i was looking end of last year i would say the price was ok but since then things have changed and i do think she is a bit over priced now. and i don't even look at the adverts for chestnut mares. sorry

Completely agree with AnyMay, lovely horse, good price, don't drop it anymore. If she was a gelding i would come see her but the yard only takes geldings grrr!
Try Horse & Hound, Horse deals & horsequest.

oh sorry i understand now. i aslo like horsedeals i know it only comes out once a month but the website is updated daily. another way is to do a nice advert with a picture and put up in local SJ centres. they normally have a notice board

I think £6000 or £6500 look better as a price as 6800 is nearly £7000 in a buyers eyes.
Good trial facilities are a must I have walked away from horses I have had to try in muddy paddocks etc.

If she was near me I would be over like a shot she does look nice but get a better quality face closeup too!

I had no trial facilities at home wtih my mare...i organised to hire somewhere nerby- that worked out just fine!!

I know you say there are others in H&H for much more and not as nice, but are they selling? I think some people are in a dream world when they think their 4 year old who has done nothing is worth £15k!
I would pay about £6k tops for something that has only done a little.

Just the sort of horse I'm looking for. I would probably ring up at that price but definitely ring up at £6000. I agree to rounding the price down to £6500.

It does seem that not a lot is selling at the moment but she looks a cracking mare so I think with more exposure you will get a better response. In fact I have noticed that a couple of horses that had a high asking price when I was looking last autumn are still competing this year with the same owners, so I wouldn't believe that everyone is getting their prices advertised.

Best of luck and shame you're not closer to me!

I also noticed in H&H some of the higher priced horses have had there prices dropped significantly from when they first appeared. This to me suggests that the more expensive horses are not selling due to the economy?

I agree, I think you're advertising in the wrong place. Try her on H&H and/or horsequest. Horseselect is good too, although more eventing orientated. I don't think the price sounds too bad tbh, I've bought 4 and 5 year olds for similar money with if anything less experience than she's got. I don't think the pictures are that bad either, but if you have any competition ones they usually look better. She looks a lovely horse, good luck!
