such a noob.. HELP!

still struggling on how to work this site haha!
on someones profile, what does it mean if youre a foal, veteran, sport horse etc?
and what are the cliques people talk about on posts haha?

They are just names which show how many posts you have made; you start as a foal until you make 20 posts, then move up to a yearling, youngster etc. until you get to an old nag with over 5000 posts!

Most of the cliques mentioned in people's signatures are just nonsense really, they just seem to develop in some threads :)

The foal/just backed/veteran stuff is about how many posts you have submitted.
Foal=very few/probably a troll so no one will respond.
Youngster= 50+ posts,but still might be a troll.
Just backed+ 100+ posts,so maybe not a troll
And so on.
So get posting and move up the ranks, otherwise you will remain a foal/troll whatever its called here!:D

I'm in a couple of 'cliques' but they aren't really cliquey. It usually happens when a few people end up noticing they have something in common, in my case owning a knobber horse and a TB who breaks a lot, and they all say 'let's start a clique'. Usually happens over the Christmas holidays for me as I'm online chatting nonsense a lot of the time and it just happens :)

If you own a knobber horse or an injury prone TB do feel free to join :)

I think I am nearly an old nag now which is a bit worrying. I spend too much time here!

omg i have a ridiculously breakable tb! hes just back in work after a bad fracture to his radius, also managed to get an infected cut overnight on boxrest and gave himself a horrific degloving injury a couple of years ago! maybe i will join this clique haha.. thanks for clearing that up!

Oooh please Miss I own a knobber horse!!! And I can't remember how many posts I've posted so I'm posting this to find out. :D

Oh that's disappointing - I obviously lurk far more than I thought I did.

It's nice on here (mostly) but just remember to roll with the criticism when it appears and don't take it to heart. There's some very good advise to be had when you need it.

xx

just thought I would post to see what I am - please could someone clarify what a knobber horse is please, not sure whether I own one or not! :D

so whats the point of posting then if no one is going to respond until you have posted 50-100 times?
Some of us just dont feel the need to comment on everything unless we feel we have relevant advice/opinion to give.

No one ever called me a troll one I was first on here! Everyone was very nice and polite :)

A knobber horse is a horse that is a bit of a knob! Simples. Mine exhibits the following behaviours which I think put him in this category

he breaks everything. If I tie him up he breaks the rope or worse pulls the tie ring from the wall, he tears rugs, he eats hanging baskets and munches holes in his haynet

some days he won't lead sensibly and repeatedly pulls away

some days he won't get on the lorry/ walk into his stable just because.

TrishC also has a knobber who exhibits similar characteristics but there are other knobber owners who's horses have other traits that still qualify them. It isn't a very scientific term! :D:D

Not sure I like the idea if you don't post much your a troll ! I read alot on here, but don't feel the need to post.

I don't ever assume new posters are trolls unless they say something trollish if that helps. Nothing to do with them being new, everything to do with what they say :) I am pretty sure it isn't the forum norm to assume all new posters most be trolls frankly. Makes me sad that people would think that :(

Most people would think that new poster with strange, idiotic or inflammatory subject matter = troll rather than new poster = troll.

But then of course the post that raised your point was made by someone with fewer posts and therefore possibly less experience on here than you have:D or in her own estimation more likely to be a troll:)

im not a troll! i was just confused haha, ive got it now!

PMSL - it was abitodd's rather snarky post I was referring to, not to your OP:) It irritates the heck out of me when people shout "troll" at new posters, especially when it's new posters that are doing it. I realised that you just wanted to know why you were a foal when I, for instance, am an old nag (I think). Mind you I guess if you met me or read many of my posts you'd realise WHY I'm an old nag:D

I took this to be a lighthearted joke?? Despite the number of different personalities on here I always assume/hope no one is being intentionally mean, maybe I'm just an eternal optimist :)
I'm still a newbie here really, long time lurker but only a few posts.

Edit: don't think I've been called a troll, well not that I know of anyway, lol!

School master I think :)
I own a mini knobber, but a 13.3 cob, so he must be a knobcoblet! (now THAT is a mouthful so say fast :D )
I don't think i was accused if a troll when I first joined either! Yippee!

Geraldine- yours must be an uber knobber then!

Trolling (for those who don't know) is coming along and saying something deliberately inflammatory to incite a response. Some trolls are funny but most are obvious and obnoxious and annoying!
